Paradigms in Medicine

ELVIN PETER CHIZENGA (Malawi – South Africa)

Elvin, who was awarded the Best Student Award in his year, earned his first degree in biomedical technology from Malamulo College of Health Sciences in Malawi.
He then achieved a BTech degree with distinction from the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, specialising in pathophysiology, molecular biology, and biostatistics.

He earned a Master of Technology degree with the highest honours (Summa cum Laude) from UoJ, specialising in cancer cell biology, biochemistry, and photodynamic treatment. He was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Medal for achieving the most outstanding performance in his Master's programme that year.

Following thorough research in the areas of nanomedicine, pharmaceutical science, biochemistry, and photodynamic treatment in cancer cells, he was granted a PhD in health sciences by the UoJ. While conducting his studies, he held positions as a lecturer and clinical researcher at the University of Johannesburg. Elvin is presently employed as a postdoctoral researcher in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the UoJ.

As a critical thinker, Elvin challenges existing paradigms and set narratives in health sciences. He currently focusses on the importance of dialectics in medicine and healthcare, as a basis for holistic reasoning.
